Privacy Policy
A clear account of what Crosswalk needs to help you make and share books.
Effective October 5, 2026
Who we are
Crosswalk operates the Crosswalk writing and publishing service at crosswalk.markdoesany.online. In this policy, “Crosswalk,” “we,” and “us” mean the operator of that service.
For privacy questions or requests, email markcernal21@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Google sign-in information. When you sign in with Google, we receive the basic account information Google makes available for authentication, such as your name, email address, profile image, and Google account or provider identifiers. We do not receive your Google password.
Account and session information. We store the information needed to create your Crosswalk account, keep you signed in, manage your role, and protect the service. Crosswalk uses a session cookie in your browser for authentication.
Your work. We store drafts, books, chapters, titles, author names, descriptions, genres, tags, language and audience settings, publication settings, snapshots, and uploaded cover images that you provide.
Publication and moderation information. If you publish or report a book, we store the related publication status, report details, moderation decisions, and timestamps needed to operate the public shelf and review reports.
Browser storage. When you confirm a mature-content notice, Crosswalk may store that choice in your browser's local storage for the related book. This is not an analytics tracker.
Service and security information. Our hosting, database, storage, and authentication providers may process technical information such as request, device, and security logs as needed to deliver and protect the service. Crosswalk does not currently use advertising trackers or analytics tools.
Google user data and Google Sign-In
Crosswalk uses Google Sign-In only for authentication. The sign-in request uses the standard OpenID Connect scopes openid, profile, and email. Crosswalk does not request or access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Photos, YouTube, or other Google APIs.
From Google, Crosswalk receives and uses only the information needed to identify and authenticate an account: your Google name, email address, profile image when available, verified-email status when provided, and the unique Google account identifier. We use this information to create or find your Crosswalk account, display your name and avatar in your private writing space, associate your books with your account, and maintain secure sessions.
Crosswalk stores the Google account identifier and the OAuth account and token records returned by Google in its authentication database so the sign-in and session flow can work. These records are stored with the account and session data described in this policy. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, use it to train artificial-intelligence models, or use it for any purpose unrelated to providing and securing Crosswalk.
Google user data is shared only with the service providers needed to operate authentication and Crosswalk: Google for sign-in, Neon for the authentication database, and Vercel for hosting and secure delivery. We do not transfer Google user data to data brokers, advertisers, or unrelated third parties. We may disclose it when required by law or necessary to investigate security abuse.
When you request deletion of your Crosswalk account by emailing markcernal21@gmail.com, we will delete the Crosswalk account, Google account association, session records, and related personal information, subject to limited records retained for security, legal compliance, or backups. Removing Crosswalk access does not delete your Google account; Google account controls remain available through your Google Account settings.
Our access to Google user data is limited to the user-facing authentication features described here and follows Google's API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. If our use changes, we will update this policy before using Google data for a new purpose.
How we use information
- To authenticate you and maintain your account and sessions.
- To save, display, export, and share your books according to the visibility settings you choose.
- To provide the Explore shelf, reading views, reporting, and moderation.
- To troubleshoot, secure, maintain, and improve Crosswalk.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, these uses are based on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, your consent where consent is required, and legal obligations.
Visibility and sharing
Private books are intended to remain available only within your account. Unlisted books can be accessed by people who have their link. Public books may appear on Explore and can be read by anyone. Information that you include in a public book, including its title, author name, description, cover, tags, and story content, may be publicly accessible.
We share information with service providers that help us operate Crosswalk: Google for sign-in, Vercel for hosting and file delivery, Vercel Blob for cover-image storage, and Neon for database hosting. We may also disclose information when necessary to comply with law, protect users, enforce our Terms, or investigate abuse.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and writing information while it is needed to provide Crosswalk, unless you ask us to delete it or a longer period is required by law. To request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information, email markcernal21@gmail.com from the account email where possible. We may retain limited records, backups, or moderation information when reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, you may ask to access, correct, update, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, or request a portable copy where applicable. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards for the information handled through Crosswalk. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a secure Google account and contact us promptly if you believe your account or content has been accessed improperly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Crosswalk's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will show when the current version took effect. Continued use of Crosswalk after an update means the updated policy applies to future use.
